We can now obtain insurance for our locomotives, rolling stock, and tools inside
our containers. In a nutshell, you are covered for fire, theft, vandalism, wind,
flood, everything! Full replacement value on locomotive and rolling stock with
agreed amount of value. Very small deductible. Tools and contents other than the
locomotive and rolling stock, such as, welders, gen-sets, drill press, tools,
will be covered for up to $5000. We are at this time working on coverage for the
container also.
We are the FIRST people in this hobby to have insurance for their equipment.
Please note, you are not covered under your homeowners for anything you have
stored at the park. If someone tells you that you have coverage call Gulfway.
You will be told in a very nice way how wrong your agent is AND nobody but
Gulfway will insure in a flood plain, like we are in.
We have been working on this for over a year now, and it is in every state now
for all of our friends. Mel, the owner of Gulfway, and I have carefully thought
this out to be of best interest for both party’s. No, I do not work for an
insurance company. I just have some interest in my stuff being covered from a
loss. Mel wants as many as we can get to sign up for obvious reasons, money. You
must realize, though, for this to be a benefit for us, such as low rates and
just the fact that nobody else has ever done this before we need numbers of
members to sign up. Mel has given this plan 2 years to get up and running for us
both. As I have stated before, are you willing to risk a loss and go through the
pain of saving money to get started again from scratch. As we go along, and
questions come up, PLEASE call me, Mel, Carol, or Sonya at Gulfway and we will
get you an answer or, if need be, to add or change something. We are in the
growing stages, and things will come up.
Yes, your steam engine is covered the same way, only while it is dormant, and
not steamed up. The liability is not in force when running any of the
locomotives or rolling stock for your pleasure or the public.
We can also get insurance for our club engines and rolling stock in the same
way. Assessed value for replacement and whatever the deductible comes out to.
Please read over the forms, and ask questions. Gulfway has been around for
years. I personally have had all of my antique semi trucks insured thru Gulfway
for several years now. Joe Schnyder used them years ago with his off-shore
racing boats. These people take high risk stuff like drag racing cars, NASCAR
vehicles, racing boats, antique vehicles.
Pick up the phone, call and talk to a human being on the other end at Gulfway,
and enjoy the comfort of not worrying every night when the monsoons hit, that we
will get washed out by a freak storm, or your electric Lionel shorts out and
becomes a wiring nightmare.
